After a very successful last auction, we are already now looking forwards to our next sale which will be held on July 14th. This sale is very important for us as it marks the beginning of a series of ten auctions in which we shall be selling a ‘£1,000,000 collection’ from one of our clients.

This G.B. collection is one of the best we’ve seen in a good few years and there is definitely something for everyone, so diverse are its contents! Its spans all of Britain’s philatelic period, ranging from a fantastic group of Mulreadys and other early illustrated covers to a great collection of 1d blacks, among which there are a number of scarcer Maltese Cross cancellations and even a 1d black on F.D.C.! There are also specialised 2d blue and 1d red items and that’s just the beginning of the Queen Victoria section!

Other items which we’ll see auctioned off over the next couple of years are a good range of Queen Victoria Surface Printed issues and Officials, King George V controls, Queen Elizabeth Wildings including booklet panes, F.D.C.’s with numerous scarcer cancels, specialised Machin collections and also (which is especially exciting for me) a really good selection of Queen Elizabeth pre-decimal and decimal varieties, with a lot of missing colours, phosphor omitted, perf. shifts and other really interesting and rare material.

A couple of items which will be sold and which will be of special interest to our customers are:

rain A May 1840 Queen Victoria Rainbow Colour Trial deep blue left corner marginal stamp with voided corner.

A horizontal strip of four 1840 1d blacks, Plate 1b, Fine used with red Maltese Crosses (See top of page).

Queen Elizabeth Postage Dues 1968-9 5d horizontal imperf imprimatur from the National Postal Museum.

pd1969 Concorde 4d U.M. with yellow-orange omitted and also 1969 Architecture 1/6d with black (face value) omitted.
