Selling Your Collection

Well, if you are looking to sell a collection the first thing to do is get a valuation done by Tony Lester Auctions Ltd. We will advise you on what the collection is worth and what you could anticipate realising at an auction. If you decide to go ahead with an auction we will agree a reserve price with you and then you can be rest assured that your collection will not be sold for any less than that price.

What happens on the day of the auction regarding your sale really depends on who is in the room on that particular day or what bids have been received in the post. You may get more than what we estimated the collection to be worth or you may get less. That is the nature of auctions but you will certainly have the peace of mind that your collection won’t be sold for anything less than the reserve price. Our estimate of the worth of your collection is realistic and edging towards being conservative so you shouldn’t be in for any major shocks or surprises!

You will pay 10%+VAT for selling your collection and you will receive your payment 5 weeks after the auction date.

Buying At An Auction

If you’re looking to buy at an auction then you will be able to see the auction catalogue 3 weeks before the auction so that you can see what’s coming up for sale. If you physically want to see the collections that are up for sale before the auction date then you will need to make an appointment. The collection will be available to view on the morning of the auction as well.

To bid on an auction you can either attend in person and make your bid or you can make a bid by post if you can’t be present. However, it’s a lot more fun to attend if you can!

We get lots of great feedback about our stamp auctions and you will find them a great way of buying or selling stamp collections. They are well attended and you can guarantee being in a room with fellow stamp enthusiasts which makes it all the more enjoyable!
